The Barn - Finished!

At any rate, the barn has been started and it is in the same style as the house: terracotta roof, plaster on the bottom, and cedar shingles over head-height.

I've only got a few pictures handy, but will try to show the development of the barn in a roughly chronological fashion.

This is the site before the concrete pad was poured. (north view)

Builders Ray and Joe.

The driveway has been gravelled, but between the winter's heavy rain and the heavy machinery coming in and out, it's very very muddy.
I owe the builders a few batches of biccies (cookies, for you americans), for pushing us out of the mud several times!

And here we are with the framing for the roof on too! (north-east view)

This was the roof at 11:30 on Monday.

Half an hour later...finished!

Our Planning Diary:

The house is due to start on 8 October 2004. After 3 1/2 years of planning and worrying about the cost, we've finally pressed the "Go" button.

We're looking forward to incorporating some of our own timber into the house. These photos are of the pines in a windbreak which used to separate our two paddocks.  They shaded the area where the orchard has been planted, and we thought it would be lovely if we were able to use the wood as well.
